Delivering Programming in 100 locations across Clark County, including libraries, housing locations, community/recreation centers, and 66 schools.

In 2024, Extension impacted more than 93,000 individuals in Clark County.

Workforce Training & Economic Development 

Advancing economic prosperity by delivering education to build job skills; increase college access; and ensure profitability, productivity and sustainability of Nevada’s small businesses and critical industries.

  • Delivered small business education through 536 direct learning opportunities, including in-person and virtual classes, podcasts and online video tutorials.
  • Trained 97 early childhood professionals through credentialing classes, and provided more than 28,343 certificates to nearly 6,255 users of self-paced online courses.
  • Trained 101 professionals through a 40-hour, research-based domestic violence advocate training, creating a more resilient network of advocates.

Horticulture, Agriculture & Natural Resources

Supporting a safe and stable food system and helping backyard gardeners, urban farmers and small-scale commercial growers thrive.

  • 186 trained Master Gardeners donated more than 685,000 volunteer hours.
  • Provided horticulture, environmental and natural resources education to 470 residents, arborists, pest control applicators and other green industry professionals to expand their knowledge and skills.
  • 37 small and mid-sized food and farm businesses received technical business assistance and $100,000+ in capacity-building funds to grow their businesses.
  • More than 1,000 Botanic Garden visitors have learned best practices for growing fruits and vegetables, and shade and irrigation strategies.

Individual & Family Health & Nutrition 

Inspiring lifelong health by advancing and promoting nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being and disease management.

  • 5,106 pre-k, elementary and middle-school youth received health and nutrition education through school-based programs.
  • 18,906 parents and caregivers received evidence-based parenting education through in-person classes, digital resources and community events.
  • 2,936 older adults and family members received education on healthy aging, physical activity and nutrition.
  • 5,035 medical professionals, real estate agents and residents received education about the health risk of elevated radon levels in the home.

4-H Youth Development 

Unlocking the potential of youth ages 5-19 by delivering hands-on, experiential learning that fosters essential skills for life and leadership.

  • 12,502 youth received 5,333 hours of STEM, civic engagement, leadership, art and healthy living education. 
  • 1,464 youth participated in after-school education and enrichment programs.
  • 700 youth participated in outdoor recreation education through overnight camps and day trips to Nevada 4-H Camp, Alamo.
  • 250 youth engaged in shooting sports, learning safety, responsibility and confidence. 

Fiscal Overview

Clark County's annual funds from property taxes and interest are $11,000,000.

The beginning fund balance is $11,000,000 for total available resources of $22,000,000.

In addition, grant proposals received were over $5,000,000 via 10 proposals. 

A portion of state and federal funds was allocated to many faculty positions serving Clark County.
