DO YOU WANT TO INTRODUCE NEW YOUTH TO 4-H?

New Faces, New Places provides opportunities for youth entering Nevada's 4-H system to develop life skills while using activities focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); and on agriculture, healthy living, and civic engagement. The curriculum allows participants to strengthen life skills such as positive self-concept, an inquiring mind, healthy interpersonal relationships and sound decisionmaking. These life skills are accomplished through educational learning experiences and activities, which are explained in this curriculum.

The first version of this curriculum was tested in community centers, after-school programs, youth camps, independent involvement programming and traditional 4-H clubs. More than 600 youth participated in the curriculum. Unlike most other curricula, New Faces, New Places builds in the 4-H club transition phase and allows participants to transition into existing 4-H clubs in their communities or form new 4-H clubs. The curriculum is divided into 12 sessions, which are designed to be taught weekly. Each session has hands-on activities that will help participants develop and nurture life skills. A great level of emphasis has been given to the use of the 4-H Experiential Learning Model and the Thriving Model in the development of this curriculum.
