Beekeeper tending to beehive Extension's Clark County - Logandale Office offers the Honey for Heroes Program to up to five local veterans each year. The program addresses two topics of particular importance to the local community: mental health and Nevada agriculture. Studies have shown that working with bees relieves anxiety and stress, and the bees produce a natural food product and pollinate food-producing plants and trees.

The program is free; all needed supplies, protective gear and bee colonies are included. At the end of the program, participants keep their supplies and are given their own hive to continue the hobby of beekeeping at home.
