Fixing It Yourself
If you plan to fix the problem in your home yourself, the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health and Nevada Radon Education Program purchased and distributed a copy of the book, "Protecting Your Home From Radon," Second Edition, D. L. Kladder with Dr. J. F. Burkhart and S. R. Jelinek, ISBN 0-9639434-0-5, to every public library in Nevada. This do-it-yourself book is for consumers to install a radon mitigation system themselves or to become familiar with how a contractor will do the installation. This book provides instruction for the process of reducing radon for a variety of different foundation types.
The detailed manual describes the most common methods for reliably reducing radon in a home. Written in a non-technical format, the book includes step-by-step instructions and illustrations to guide homeowners through the radon mitigation process.
University of Nevada, Reno Extension's Radon Education Program offers low-cost copies of this book. Books can be ordered with a mail-in coupon or through Eventbrite. (The difference between Nevadans and Non-Nevadans is the shipping charge.) For more information, call 1-888-RADON10 (1-888-723-6610).
