Summary

Jordan Hosmer-Henner is the Food Systems Program Manager at the Desert Farming Initiative where he supports programs to develop local agricultural producer capacity and profitability, SNAP-ED farmers market promotion and university academic coordination. His experience in the Nevada Governor's Office with a policy portfolio covering agriculture, energy and public lands as well as work as Urban Economist for the City of Reno uniquely position him to effectively coordinate food chain enhancement efforts.

 

Programs

Nevada Farm Apprenticeship Program

The program will prepare participants to become farm owner operators in Nevada by providing the knowledge, contacts, and experience necessary for outdoor fruit and vegetable farming at the small farm scale (approximately $25,000 - $350,000 gross farm income).

SNAP Into Farm Fresh Foods

SNAP Into Farm Fresh Foods is a health and nutrition program that provides education to SNAP-eligible participants and provides technical assistance to local farmers market managers and vendors seeking to become SNAP authorized and implement SNAP friendliness best practices.
