Healthy Aging Initiative Faculty

Summary

Natalie Mazzullo is Healthy Aging Initiative faculty for the University of Nevada, Reno Extension. Ms. Mazzullo was recently re-appointed by Governor Lombardo to the Commission on Aging. This is her second term. She is a lead teacher and facilitator for AARP's Disrupt Aging Classroom and a scholar in health literacy for older adults. She holds certificates in gerontology, healthy aging and inter-professional geriatrics care. In addition to that, she serves on the inter-professional geriatric curriculum committee for the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a member of the American Society on Aging and the Gerontological Society of America. Her undergraduate degree is in public health and her master’s degree is in curriculum development using educational technology. She has been working in public health and championing marginalized individuals since the late 1990s. She also works tirelessly to dispel ageism and ageist language.

Healthy Aging Initiative

Using Extension's expertise, the Healthy Aging Initiative (HAI) can connect you with the resources you need to navigate aging and the aging trend. The HAI program offers classes for older adults and those who work with, support and serve as care partners for older adults. Classes include physical activity, nutrition, family and care partner violence, turning your hobby into a small income stream or volunteer opportunities.
