Shared Responsibility

Engaging in Alternative and Creative Therapies for Older Adults

Wednesday, November 19, 2025

The Summit is presented by the University of Nevada, Reno Extension at our Paradise Campus at 8050 Paradise Rd., Las Vegas, 89123.

Our shared responsibility is to communicate the evidence behind these disciplines and highlight how they complement traditional healthcare. We aim to promote meaningful engagement for aging populations by fostering collaboration across professions. We encourage you to incorporate these therapies into your work and help make them vital to multidisciplinary care.

As we grow older, staying healthy and feeling connected becomes more important than ever. That’s why we believe in sharing proven therapies that work in conjunction with traditional healthcare, offering new ways to support well-being, comfort, and independence.

We’re committed to building bridges between healthcare professionals, caregivers, and communities to create care that’s truly holistic through art, dance, laughter, music, recreation and therapeutic animal companions. By working together, we can make these therapies a meaningful part of everyday life and ensure they’re included in the care received.

Whether you're a provider, a caregiver, or someone exploring options for yourself or a loved one, we invite you to become part of this movement, bringing thoughtful, evidence-based care to every stage of aging.

Community resources will be available for additional discussion and networking opportunities.

Six continuing education units will be requested from the Nevada State Boards of Examiners for long-term care administrators and social workers. UNR Extension will approve continuing professional education for certified health education specialists, marriage and family therapists and nurses.
