The Business Development Program aims to instruct small business owners about fundamental business concepts while providing access and direction to informational resources. Small business owners, at any stage of development, can benefit from educational opportunities and awareness of all business network resources. This is where the Business Development Program, with its workshops and relationships with Nevada business programs, steps in to act as a guide.

Navigating today's business climate is difficult, and information
is either scarce or diluted. As a response,Nevada Department of Business and Industry logo the Nevada Department of Business and Industry created The Road Map to help small business owners at every stage of development. This interactive guide covers all business concepts and links small business owners to resources from helpful organizations across Nevada. We have developed classes based on the business topics in
"The Road Map" to help businesses in their lifelong learning journey.

Our classes are:

  • Bilingual - English and Spanish
  • Centered on relevant business topics
  • Accessible in person and remotely
  • A nexus for additional business resources such as lending and in-person counseling

FIRST ANNUAL RURAL NEVADA STARTUP PITCH COMPETITION

Great Basin College is hosting a pitch competition on Sept. 25 in Elko, with video links at the other campuses and a Zoom link for anyone not able to make it to a campus. There will be education in the morning and early afternoon for entrepreneurs and potential angels, and the pitch competition will begin at 1:30 pm with a maximum of five pitches.

Join them for a full day of education around entrepreneurship and financing, with panel discussions and a pitch competition with cash prizes for those who place in first, second and third. Visit the Rural Nevada Start-Up Pitch Competition website to register

The idea behind this program is to expand the entrepreneurial ecosystem that is already developing in Reno – Tahoe area, and develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem in rural Nevada. This will include supporting entrepreneurs with:

  • Mentorship
  • Access to capital
  • Networks of entrepreneurs

Through partnerships with existing resources including Great Basin College, StartUpNV, Entrepreneur’s Assembly, the Nevada Small Business Development Center and Extension, they will create an entrepreneur network that has less separation between rural entrepreneurs and Nevada’s population centers. It will be comprised of mentors, entrepreneur support organizations, government entities, founders and investors. This will increase Nevada’s resiliency in the face of downturns and increase the economy statewide.

Join us for our Weekly Town Hall on June 3, 2020 at 9 a.m.
