Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA)

A national multi-species quality assurance program for youth ages 8 to 21 producing and/or showing pigs, beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits, and poultry.

For Livestock Show Superintendents/Staff:

YQCA - Prepared 2 Respond
Two Courses Available:  

  1. Livestock Event Personnel Module Series (for fair managers, fair board members, fair veterinarians, staff, volunteers, exhibitors, etc.)
  2. First Responders Module Series (fair law enforcement officers, fire or rescue officers, EMT, etc.)

University of California – Youth 4-H Biosecurity Videos, a series of 3 videos about livestock fair biosecurity and the 4-H curriculum that youth engaged.

Iowa State University Center for Food Security and Public Health’s program called “Bring Home the Blue, Not the Flu”.  This site offers free online courses/curriculum has grade-level group options, in addition to videos, training guides, etc.:

University of Arizona’s SCRUB: Science Creates Real Understanding of Biosecurity Curriculum instructor guide is a helpful resource for fun activities.

Michigan State University has produced a lesson plan designed for 4-H meetings called “Building on Biosecurity: Reducing the Risk."
