The Southwest Regional Food Business Center (SWRFBC) is dedicated to enhancing the resiliency of food supply chains and aiding pandemic recovery by focusing on building the capacity of small and mid-sized food producers, businesses, or networks. This initiative is a crucial part of the center's efforts to support the food industry and strengthen its infrastructure. The Business Builder Program consists of two distinct sub-award opportunities designed to address different needs within the food sector. The application for the Business Builder Program closed on February 17, 2025.

 

Technical Assistance Program

The technical assistance program offers 10 weeks of training and support, including mentorship from the entire Food Business Center team. Upon successful completion of the program, participants may be eligible for a sub-award of up to $10,000, with potential future funding opportunities available.

To apply for the Technical Assistance Program under the Southwest Regional Food Business Center (SWRFBC), a Letter of Intent (LOI) will be required. The LOI format is available below. The LOI will help ensure applicants align with the program's goal of building resilient local and regional food supply chains.

This program offers up to $50,000 in funding aimed at improving food processing and distribution capabilities. It is anticipated that there will be $200,000 available in FY25. The goal is to strengthen the production and delivery systems of small and mid-sized food producers, ensuring that they can scale effectively and become more resilient in times of crisis. 

Eligible program applicants include producers, cooperatives, food hubs/aggregators, distributors, processors, and manufacturers.

Letter of Intent (LOI) forms are now available for the Technical Assistance Program under the Southwest Regional Food Business Center. The LOI is required for applicants to ensure alignment with the program’s goal of building resilient local and regional food supply chains. Forms will be accepted until April 22.
