The Nevada Drought Update is created by the State Climate Office to provide a statewide drought summary. This report is updated monthly during widespread extreme or exceptional drought in Nevada. 

The data used to create the map below can be found at the U.S. Drought Monitor, along with more maps and visualization tools. This map is updated every Thursday and represents the most up-to-date information.

What is drought?

The definition of “drought” varies depending on the context in which it is used. Simply put, drought can be defined as insufficient water to meet needs.

Drought affects people and nature. Our vulnerability to drought often depends on the resources that are available to respond to current conditions.
