Walkabout on Paiute Lands

The Walker River Paiute Tribe Education Department’s NYCP Program is hosting Walkabout on Paiute Lands, a Spring Break cultural event for students and the community. Taking place on April 4th, 5th, and 6th, 2025, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. each day, the event will feature outdoor excursions, learning, and storytelling by traditional knowledge-holders across the beautiful Numu/Paiute lands. Locations include White Mountain, Walker Lake, Grimes Point/Hidden Cave, and Lovelock Cave. Transportation and meals are provided for NYCP youth members.

2025 NV TRIBAL FOOD SOVEREIGNTY WORKSHOP (SPRING QUARTER)

2025 Nevada Tribal Food Sovereignty Workshop

Join us for the 2025 Nevada Tribal Food Sovereignty Workshop (Spring Quarter), hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno Extension and funded by Nevada Gold Mines. This workshop will provide valuable insights into hoop house and garden growing, with expert-led discussions on spring and summer season crops, integrated pest management, plant and soil health, irrigation methods, mulching and composting, disease management, soil testing, and native plants. USDA representatives will also be present to provide updates on available programs. Sessions last for three hours.

Join us at Pyramid Lake for a Grower's Meeting on April 25 and May 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days at the Tribal Council Chambers. Topics include farming, ranching, gardening, area management, and more. Lunch is provided and the event is free to attend.
