Moe, J. 2020, The geese are... back., Desert Farming Initiative, University of Nevada, Reno, Blog

As soon as we saw evidence (feces and nibbled greens) that geese had returned to our vegetable fields, we pulled out all of the stops to discourage their activity: low flagging, reflective tape, row cover, a motion activated sprinkler and coyote decoys (repositioned daily). It is working – no more activity since we took these measures! You can find more information in our Geese Management fact sheet. Pre-harvest risk assessment continues to ensure that we are minimizing risk of fecal contamination (check out procedures for this in our Food Safety Plan).
