Join the Ultimate 4-H Experience at the Nevada 4-H State Expo!

Nevada’s biggest celebration of youth, agriculture and community is coming together in one place! From June 10-14, 2026, the Nevada Junior Livestock Show, the Official State Fair of Nevada and the Nevada 4-H State Expo will all be happening at the Nevada State Fairgrounds in Reno, Nevada. 

Are you ready to showcase your skills, compete with fellow 4-H members, and celebrate everything you’ve learned through the University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s 4-H Youth Development Program? The Nevada 4-H State Expo is your chance to step into the spotlight!

Held annually, this action-packed event brings together youth from across the state to exhibit their talents, test their knowledge and take part in exciting competitions, from animal care and STEM projects to creative arts. Whether you are demonstrating your expertise in livestock, photography, cooking, or robotics, Expo is where hard work meets recognition!

  • Compete in skill-a-thons and quiz bowls for a shot at the Western National Roundup.
  • Show off your livestock and animal care knowledge, from reptiles to horses
  • Display your creativity through art, photography, and sewing projects
  • Engage in hands-on STEM activities that put your problem-solving skills to the test

This family-friendly event is open to the public, making it the perfect opportunity to inspire others and experience the full excitement of 4-H. Whether you're competing, learning, or cheering on friends, there’s something for everyone at the Nevada 4-H State Expo.

Events will be held at the Reno Sparks Livestock Events Center. Exact locations will be shared with participants two (2) weeks prior to the event.

Wednesday, June 10

  • 8:30 a.m. | 4-H Horse Show Check-in/health inspection (outdoor arena)
  • 9:00 a.m. | 4-H Horse Show (with horses and horseless contests too)
  • 9:00 a.m.-1 p.m. | 4-H Livestock Judging Contest (location TBD)
  • 12:45 p.m. | 4-H dog show check-in (cutting arena)
  • 1:00 p.m. | 4-H dog show (cutting arena)
  • 2:00-4:00 p.m. | 4-H Livestock Skill-a-thon Contest (location TBD)
  • 3:00 p.m. | 4-H Speech and Demonstration Contests (Doc Bar)

Thursday, June 11

  • 6:30 a.m.  | NJLS MANAGEMENT, SUPERINTENDENTS & WEIGH-IN CLERKS-Office
  • 7:00-8:30 a.m. | WEIGH-IN / CHECK-IN OF ALL LIVESTOCK (must be in line at 8:30) 
  • 7:00-11:00 a.m. | Exhibitor check-in at the livestock office (all changes reported). 
  • 7:30 | 4-H breeding/show rabbits, poultry, and cavy check-in (location TBD) 
  • 8:00 a.m. | 4-H breeding/show rabbits, poultry, and cavy shows – immediately following exhibitor orientation
  • 8:00 a.m. | 4-H Static exhibits judged (closed to general public during this time) 
  • 9:00 a.m. | Youth Advisory Council Meeting in front of the Show Office- bring all materials to the front of the Show Office

  • 8:30 a.m. | ROUND ROBIN SHOWMANSHIP- Showmanship rotations will start, check in at the gazebo. All contestants 
    will go to the mezzanine to take written tests immediately after rotations.
  • 8:30 a.m. | 4-H Round Robin (includes: horse, dogs, show rabbits, show poultry, herpetology) * If a youth 
    qualifies in both round robin events, they will need to determine which one they will participate in
  • 1:00 p.m. | Brand Inspections in the beef barn (for all animals being transported to harvest) 
  • 2:00 p.m. | Release forms available at the office
  • 2:00 p.m. | Top 5 Market animals move to arena display pens
  • 2:45 p.m. | AUCTION MEETING (Auctioneer, Auction Volunteers and Staff - Show Office)

    All exhibitors need to clean your own stalls/cages. All bedding materials must be placed into the rear of the dumpster.
