The Desert Farming Initiative and the Department of Nutrition are pleased to announce a service-learning internship available working at the Desert Farming Imitative for Spring 2021.  The course is being offered to Community Nutrition Students who enroll in NUTR 471/671. If you are not a Nutrition student there are other opportunities to receive credits interning at DFI, so please inquire. 

Here are the key benefits you can expect to gain from this course:
•    Build on the knowledge and skills you have gained from NUTR 470.
•    Contribute to the innovative DFI Program that promotes sustainable food systems.
•    Support a healthful solution to the community food insecurity.
•    Gain hands-on experience at the farm on Valley Road, learning about producing a large diversity of food crop.
•    Increase your knowledge about farming practices, food safety, and food distribution.
•    Work safely outdoors with DFI staff and other students.

•    Course Enrollment: Applied Community Nutrition, NUTR 471/671 (1 credit)
•    This course had earned the designation as a UNR "Service-Learning Course"
